As the 11th anniversary of the crash of twa flight 800 has just passed (july 17), i'm posting this in honor of those who died in the crash and the families of the victims. this is a memorial at the smith point beach park on the south shore of long island, new york. as close to the crash site as you can get. i didn't know anyone involved in the tragedy, but it effected me deeply and depressed the crap out of me that summer in 1996.
for several years at that point i had always wanted to go to paris. hearing the stories of victims with the same desires made me think long and hard about the situation. three years later when i actually made it to paris in august of 1999 i had the victims of twa flight 800 in thought and in mind the entire time. part of me felt like i was there for them and i forced myself to overcome my fear of flying to get there.
please, no comments about any conspiracies of missiles bringing down flight 800. this video is meant to honor and pay respects to those who have perished and support the family members who have to deal with their loss.
