brandon flowers (lead singer)has said so in many interviews, including one on radio 1.
he got the lyrics "are we human or are we dancer" from a quote by [author hunter s.] thompson: 'we're raising a generation of dancers,' and then brandon said in a interview laughing: "'denser'? i hadn't heard that one. i don't like 'denser'."
