A continuation of the state st. drive from roosevelt to 39th.
this drive shows the 2 mile long vacant lot where robert taylor homes used to be. there were 28 high-rises; now there's one. they've started building a few bay-windowed apartment buildings along state street; the timing, a month before the aldermanic primaries, is purely coincidental, i'm sure.
most of the schools are closed. the mansard-roofed strip mall at 51st is closed.
the churches? they're open. they weren't torn down when the old neighborhood was bulldozed; they weren't torn down this time around. he works in mysterious ways.
toward the end, i turn west on 55th and north on dearborn to show you the few houses that weren't torn down in the '50's, and their proximity to the former projects.
