| | | Description | This collection of generic promos was created to support the re-launch of itv news on 2nd november 2009. the re-launch formed part of a major brand re-alignment, aimed at bringing network bulletins into line with itv1's overall channel branding, and included the creation of a new opening title sequence, set design, graphics and theme music.
the promos were filmed in central london, at the headquarters of itn (the network's news provider) and feature the main itv news presenters speaking in the atrium at gray's inn road, about the human aspect of news - interspersed with images of staff working in the itv newsroom.
the first promo featuring katie derham and alastair stewart is designed to promote 'the lunchtime news' bulletin, although the bulletin was re-named as simply 'the itv news' as part of the re-launch (despite both katie and alastair referring to the old programme title in their comments).
the second and third promos jointly promote 'the itv evening news' (renamed 'the itv news at 6.30') and 'news at ten' (now 'the itv news at ten') and feature mary nightingale, mark austin, julie etchingham and alastair stewart. both promos feature identical comments from the presenters (edited in a different sequence) with only mary making different comments in each.
in addition to these generic promos, a series of themed promos have also been created, dealing with a variety of topical subjects such as flooding and unemployment. as with the generic promos, these also began to airing on itv1 in november 2009.
both the generic and themed set of promos end with the newly created strapline 'itv news: bringing the facts to life' - designed to compliment the network's current marketing campaign 'itv1: the brighter side'.
