| | | Description | Egg was infertile
she's a zebra finch
i did not force the bird
.. and the longer story:
the bird lay her egg in my hand willingly - i didn't make her stay in my hand nor forced her to come out of their cage to shoot this video. ..and if some of the offensive commentors would actually see one of them laying eggs, that's how they do that! one can't really force a bird to pretend it's laying eggs..
she doesn't do that every day, week or month. only a few times since she's grown up. you can't stop a bird laying eggs if you've removed everything (from the cage) that would encourage them to nest.. for this one idiot who keeps pestering me to "never letting her do it for her sake" try to control a "#¤"#%¤#%¤ zebra finch you #¤#¤# idiot. i'm so pissed off at these idiots commenting, i'll approve all comments from now on. so if you're an idiot, your comment won't show. i'm sorry if this policy troubles you, who have real comments and real questions.
real life birds often do a second nesting after a failed one, so having your zebra finch lay one empty egg once or twice a year is definitely not a life-taking risk, no more than regular nesting...
the egg was an infertile one since she lives with girls only.
and yes, i've touched their eggs when they are taking care of them and they haven't ditched the eggs. if you ever touch the eggs of your pet birds, wash hands before and after and make sure your hands are warm. don't touch them if you can keep from touching them since one of the common reasons of pet birds (that can't smell) abandoning their eggs is because they can't return to their nest (you pestering them) or that their eggs have gone cold.
