On thursday, november 5th, 2009, congressman michael arcuri voted in support of the expedited card reform for consumers act to move up the enactment date of the credit cardholders bill of rights act from february 2010 to december 1, 2010 in response to higher instances of customer abuse and poor customer treatment by card companies over the past few months. this bill would prevent credit card companies from introducing new charges to harm consumers, as has been the case with bank of america and citigroup. those two companies announced recently that they would be charging their customers additional fees if they dont carry a balance on their card from month to month or year to year.
