flash alert! flash alert! flash alert!
day eight of the times bfi 53rd london film festival. almost caught up with my editing backlog dear viewer. there are three events to cover today. the weather held up nicely. the traditional red carpet runs along the front of the vue. i get a spot near the paps so the flashing of their strobes is unavoidable tough of course i try to avoid and work around it as much as possible. lots of tourists along the barriers as it is an irresistible draw for anyone walking into the square. the usual suspects take up a position at the west of the square where they can grab their prey as they exit their limos and before the fans, media and paps. i get asked dozens of times what is going on, who is coming, what film is this for. arriving early and queuing is not as stress free as you may imagine. still i do get to meet lots of folk who are always very nice.
my final gig of the evening is controversial gangsta flick 1 day by director penny woolcock. since it has gone of release, it has been banned in some cities which is always a good thing for sales. the cast and their buddies all arrived en masse and in a bit of a rush so it was hard to pick out individuals from the twenty or so of them in the group.
